I’ve found you calendars with birds from the US, Canada and Britain. Garden birds are usually, technically, song birds. Most of these feature songbirds and backyard birds photographs, but one features them in romantic paintings. Shown to the side here is the beautiful bird-art by the Hautman Brothers from their Songbirds Wall Calendar.

Backyard birds have a place in our hearts, because we grew up seeing them around. Some of these are colorful, others rather dull. However, they all liven up our gardens.

Famous Canadian artist J. Fenwick Lansdowne (1937- 2008), now deceased, began painting birds at the age of 12, during a childhood marked by illness. Although his work often drew him to exotic landscapes, Lansdowne, like John James Audubon, kept his focus on North America. The dozen species presented here are creatures of woodland, field, slough and river:Steller’s jay, barn owl, black-crowned night heron, etc.
